To meet rigorous compliance requirements for better metastore management, data governance, and audit logging processes, the customer required Unity Catalog to be implemented on two separate Databricks tenants.

Solution

Lovelytics upgraded two large Databricks deployments with multi-regional architecture to leverage Unity Catalog. We migrated all workspaces, upgraded all permissions, adopted brand new features for managing streaming workloads, and advised the customer on how to manage new process flows with Unity Catalog.

Impact

Both clients and all workloads were migrated with zero-impact to up-time or service. The customer also achieved a higher level of data governance on all of their analytic workloads, including streaming data workloads.
